Re: Thinking ahead
AMD processors seem to run faster than the more expensive Intel processors (trying to verify this.) That's usually true in general... a little faster, a little less reliable over the long term. That's been my experience with AMD. They seem to run hotter so maybe they suffer more heat related failur...

Re: Swapping P2K ROM versions with NuCore
That sounds pretty slick. Would this special directory be automounted from a usb stick? Or does a file have to be copied from a command prompt. And, if the latter, do we need to open it up and plug in a keyboard or would it support a terminal interface over the serial port? I've been pretty happy wi...

Swapping P2K ROM versions with NuCore
On RFM I have an early version of the code (maybe even 1.0) and have never bothered to upgrade. With NuCore, how will upgrades work? Will they be installed over a com port? Will it be possible to easily roll forward and backwards between versions? Or maybe select a specific code rev at boot or from ...

Re: Machine crashed twice/ Coil Buzz
Sometimes memory can "usually" work fine, but when accessed in certain patterns it flakes out. That's why thorough memory tests run a whole bunch of different patterns. It could be that the tank mode code runs a pattern that exposes a memory problem. Then again it could be about a billion ...

This is great news. But it's bothersome that you had to license it at all. Frigging lawyers.

Looks great!
Is it RoHS compliant?
You know it had to be asked

Re: POLL: Please give us your 2 cents about a Nucore case
Some brutal honesty here, sorry. For me, if the Nucore solution isn't a direct drop-in I probably would not buy it. The jukebox is not something I will use and if I have to hassle with building/modifying a computer I might as well fix the original (assuming that replacement prisms will become cheape...

Re: POLL: Please give us your 2 cents about a Nucore case
My vote is for a custom case. It will be more expensive, but it will be drop-in and look far more original than a cobbled together beige no-name case.

Re: Martian Bomb
Martian Bomb is sort of a bomb on RFM.
It's much more useful on AFM where there are four martians to kill and they are harder to hit (especially the lower right one).

Re: Martian Bomb
The square ball launch button is hit to use a martian bomb. It's mainly used during martian attack mode to kill the martians and raise the ramp you hit to start martian multiball. I don't think it has a use during drive in demolition mode but I can't recall trying it there.

Re: Machine crashed twice/ Coil Buzz
I've played the crap out of my RFM (it's still on an early rev, maybe even 1.0) and it's never crashed in Martian Bowling or anywhere else. Where did you hear about this bug? And what are the symptoms of the crash? The coil stop is the first thing to look at when coils buzz. If the plunger doesn't r...

Re: High Scores.
Hope you're better at capture multiball than I was tonight. In about eight attempts I was only able to beat it once. Used to be that I'd be it three out of four times. P2K is interesting, the smaller playfield does make it play faster than regular sized games and it's sometimes a challenge going bac...

Re: Help needed
Congrats on getting it fixed.
I don't recall saying that switch 74 s/b changed but I don't recall much from the last few days either
As usual the simple things first. Problem here was it wasn't obvious that the rollover was involved in activating the diverter.

Eddie, I posted a theory on RGP about your RFM problem.

Re: Help needed
When the behavior of a problem keeps changing it could easily be due to an intermittent connection. ChadTower's suggestion might be right on the money. There could be an intermittent break in the wiring too. Also, people don't realize it but connectors are rated for a specific number of insertions a...
