Re: nucore Future Pinball and/or Visual Pinball Support

Perhaps a menu backdoor into an XML is in order? That would give people an easy way to add menu items in an out of the way place so they can launch other apps directly from NuCore. You guys don't support networking yet but folks could launch into other apps that do... I wouldn't mind adding a video...

Re: nucore Future Pinball and/or Visual Pinball Support

Technical challenges aside... that sounds like one hell of a licensing nightmare to do "officially".

Re: NuCore Wiki?

That's a start. I can't find any links to it, though, except that one in the original thread suggesting a Wiki.

Re: Sound Options

Yep... when I get the chance to do it, though, I'm going car amp/speakers, so that's what I'll be writing up. And probably a custom mount solution too since that's my plan.

Re: Sound Options

That's exactly the sort of thing that should end up in the wiki. :D

Re: Monitor Options for Nucore

Of course, you often actually want to see the boot sequence. I wouldn't want a $2500 platform running without that.

Re: Sound Options

I'll end up going option 3 so I can substantially upgrade the sound while I'm at it.

Re: Monitor Options for Nucore

I've run standard res monitors with hacked vga cards many times. They do boot in 60khz and then settle into 15khz once the OS drivers are resident. I have never seen a monitor damaged by this... but I completely understand why these guys aren't willing to support that. Mine are usually rebuilt befor...

Re: RFM/SWE1 ROM Availability Update

That raises an interesting question... if the videos in the ROM are so poor, how are they being played with such greater quality in NuCore? Did they turn out to be decent in the ROM and the player is poor? Or are they being upsampled somehow?

Re: NuCore Wiki?

A large cross section of technical abilities is going to lead to a lot of repeated questions. Most people who can't answer their own questions will not search first. If you have users willing to write up some basic tutorials it can only help head those questions off. It does look like you're going t...

Re: NuCore Wiki?

It's easier than putting up a working forum. :) I don't know whether you're hosting yourself or paying a provider to set up the software/host, but either way, it's fairly trivial for software guys like yourselves to drop a Wiki into a base Apache. You already have a dbms for the forum so half the wo...

NuCore Wiki?

Any thought to putting up a Wiki here so that the users can build up the knowledge base on their own? The RGP talk makes it look like a lot of the early adopters are going to try various DIY techniques to keep the cost down. It would be very useful to document as much of that as people are willing t...

Re: Monitor Options for Nucore

They do tend to run quite a bit deeper than your average arcade monitor, though. Depth of the tube neck is going to be an issue with a lot of them. And they weigh a LOT more because of all of the shielding in the case. If one wants to decase it and remove that shielding then it's going to take some ...
