Re: Non-standard parallel port address

I used the original amp in my setup - I just soldered a jumper from the 78L05 on-board regulator output to the #mute line on the prism card connector and soldered an 3.5mm patch cable to the unpopulated RCA jack pads. I saw a post where someone else soldered an RC network between the molex 5V line a...

Re: Non-standard parallel port address

Getting nucore to start on boot is pretty simple: You can skip step 1 if the nucore menu can "see" your power driver board without using the "-parallel" commandline option ie. if you can accept or decline the the license agreement with the buttons without the "-parallel" option. Otherwise you'll nee...

Re: Non-standard parallel port address

Your best bet would be to start from scratch again but use the "bigger hammer" instructions for libstdc++5 (do this last). I think you were about done before you started from scratch and just needed to install the roms.

Re: Non-standard parallel port address

I guess the X server is angry about something. Doesn't matter as you don't need it for Nucore. I would need a little more of the error output to know exactly whats going on. Pull up a terminal (ctrl+alt+f7 if all else fails) and try to start Nucore manually: cd /root/nucore/bin ./run nucore You shou...

Re: Non-standard parallel port address

Yeah, looks like you've got everything you need now except for the libstdc++5 package. Here's a hacky way to force install it. dpkg --force-all -i libstdc++5_3.3.6-15ubuntu6_i386.deb That should do it. You should be able to start nucore now. If that fails - use a bigger hammer: extract the .deb pack...

Re: Non-standard parallel port address

Odd. Lets do some cleanup and try to continue. Looks like 'process' saw a failure when the package was indeed installed. sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get -f install sudo dpkg --configure -a I think the required packages were installed with the possible exception of libstdc++5 but we can forcibly inst...

Re: Non-standard parallel port address

Try just running this and let me know what it reports back:

Re: Non-standard parallel port address

I intended for them to be used on 8.04 but it doesnt really matter as long as you arent on an Ubuntu release after ~17.04 (would just set a bunch of invalid sources).

Re: Non-standard parallel port address

Make sure you're connected to the internet and run this: sudo sed -i -re 's/([a-z]{2}\.)?archive.ubuntu.com|security.ubuntu.com/old-releases.ubuntu.com/g' /etc/apt/sources.list then run: sudo apt-get update Rerun the nucore install. It should complete now after grabbing a bunch of stuff. You'll prob...

Re: Non-standard parallel port address

I use 10.04 but only because I was having issues with 17.10 on my machine and I already had 10.04 downloaded.

Re: Nucore 2.25.3R Released

Hi Chuck, I did some testing and found that when using a non-standard parallel port address (in my case 0x3008) I cannot access the jukebox or the nucore menu. All other functions work perfectly ie. gameplay, coin door buttons, etc. I thought this might be an issue with my install so I freshly insta...

Re: Non-standard parallel port address

I take no responsibility for anything that might go awry when doing this. You will need to run as root and that can be dangerous if you aren't familiar with the risks involved. That being said - this should do what you need. I don't have the machine in front of me. So, this is off the top of my head...

Re: Non-standard parallel port address

You can run/install the nucore updates manually with a bit of linux-fu.

Re: Pinball 2000 Wizard Blocks running on Nucore

Hey, That is really cool. I think many people would be interested but parts of this forum have stagnated over the years. Most likely not many people have seen this. It should come around in the near future since the developers are releasing new versions again. As for the sounds - I believe the devel...
