I thought I posted an update but haven't. I tried all sorts of tricks to mount the monitor without heavily modifying the original head and didn't like any of them. I'm going to take a look for some retail plasma/lcd mounts at best buy and circuit city this weekend. Wish me luck or please suggest any...

I'll probably be too busy to shoot video. But it probably will shoot a vid afterwards since our software has progressed and new features have been added. Steve added something he's always wanted, auto-play. By installing two hall sensors under his rfm playfield he can detect when the ball is in the ...

What's going on now.

To keep everyone up to date: Software - The software keeps getting better all the time. If things go well I will have some cool things to show people at PATZ. Custom Hardware - we are still working on final specs. We are finding the balancing point between price, functionality, and form. The project...

I'm going to proceed based on hard disk at the moment. I'm sure we'll allow the use of any usb based storage for updates, music, etc. This would include CF since a lot of machines have built in usb based CF readers.

And I don't see any advantage in using USB-anything. I thought (or hoped) you'd abandoned that idea.... *grin* I wouldn't abondon anything unless it didn't work at all. The trick is with the usb drives is that 95% of them are slow. You'll buy one thats ready-boost ready and "fast" ...

Pinball at the ZOO - Who is going?

I just want to know who I'm going to see there ;-)

I'm going to try to get the lcd installed in the star wars head and also add a bumpin sound system.

Hmmm... don't think I've ever tried one in a machine that had SATA. If you have to use a motherboard that has SATA, I suppose you could try a CF->SATA converter: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8466 But that costs $10 more than the simple CF->IDE. Thanks for the link. Lets talk about whic...

Today I looked online for a lcd that would fit. Almost everyone has stopped making 4:3 monitors :p I found a couple new and they were nearly 400 bucks. Since I've spent too much money on pinball lately I decided to check my inventory. I gave my son an old monitor that was on my wife's pc before she ...

LCD Project Diary

It was time to start today. The first task was to remove the head from the machine. Since the computer had already been removed this was going to be eazy right?? Think again. DAMN that thing is heavy and akward. More awkward really. I got it on my workbench and proceeded to remove all of the wires. ...

I have had zero luck with stability using cf on a legacy ide adapter. I'm still testing but it appears that newer systems that intent on using SATA have problems supporting cf on an ide adapter. I tried two different brand new machines and had really strange problems with both. I also hooked up a le...
