My theory says the LCD image would be clearer. Each pixel on a curved screen would also be slightly curved, causing the light to spread out something like a flashlight beam, getting wider as it gets further from the source. On an LCD the pixel would be flat, reducing the spread. It's a theory anyway.

That capture lane proximity switch seems to miss a lot so this is great news. I've replaced them on my RFM and it didn't help any. I had been looking for a 266 mHz cpu for my machine but your solution seems better :)

Have you seen any improvement with switch responsiveness? An example is what happens when you launch a ball and it rolls down the lit lane - it takes awhile for the corresponding bonus score graphic and sound effect to run.

With "limited" write cycles of 100k writes I don't see that as being a big issue Depending on the IO details of their implementation it could be a major issue. If they are going heavy on disk IO a thumb drive may not last long at all. It would be interesting to know the algorithm used by ...

I still contend that the LCD display will improve reliability. Even if the LCD itself is less reliable than a standard monitor (not sure about that) the huge reduction in heat surely would reduce collateral heat damage to other components.

Thumb drives are cheap and reliable. As long as they can easily be replicated by end users I'd go that route. With "limited" write cycles of 100k writes I don't see that as being a big issue, especially since a decent thumb drive will wear level the blocks. More of an issue would be future...

I'd sure like to see what p2k would look like with an LCD monitor. Less heat, better contrast, higher reliability, it seems like it would be a winner.

It depends on what OS you're running. If it's proprietary and requires an expensive support contract on the buyers part then it would matter. If it's a public domain product with a support forum somewhere then it wouldn't matter to me at all. But it would be useful to the DIY crowd to know exact con...

I think you should sell complete drop-in boxes, diy kits, and parts/software. I've got a few extra pc/104 industrial cpus (wide temp range) with flash drives that would be ideal for this but I'd like to buy software and any other misc. parts from you guys. But if that's not possible a kit would be t...

I played a lot of pinball in the mom and pop burger joint across from the high school during the early 70s. During and after college I sort of lost interest as machines got more complex. It just didn't seem worthwhile to invest my meager spare quarters in pins that would take a long time to learn. F...
