Re: Original Audio Amp modification to use with Nucore

By doing the modification shown in the following link! ;-) I already ran into EVERYTHING you guys can come up with when I was testing this damn thing! LOL! I was going the cheap ass route and using as many original items as possible. :-) http://www.bigguyspinball.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=15&...

Re: Original Audio Amp modification to use with Nucore

I guess I'm not following you. What are you trying to do? Turn the box on with the game power switch? Or have a momentary switch? If you want a momentary switch use this one: http://www.frys.com/product/3536714?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG It plugs right into your motherboard. If you want to turn on ...

Re: Few questions about NuCore

Hi, I'm going to order a NuCore Base package, and build the PC myself, but have some questions before I do so : 1. Our normal power outlets are 230V, the pinball 2000 PC is 110 I believe, when I build a computer and connect the power cable of the old PC, should I set the power supply to 110 V? (I t...

Re: Original Audio Amp modification to use with Nucore

Yes, you need to connect an external power supply and NOT the one from the computer you are using. You will create a ground loop hum if you do. Go get a cheap ps from your local computer store and buy an extension cable like the one pictured here so you can mount the ps in the bottom of the cabinet ...

Re: Original Audio Amp modification to use with Nucore

It's not really a third wire. It is silver braiding on the outside of the red and white wires.

When you strip back the insulation on the outside of the red and white conductors you will see some silver braiding/shielding. That is what you need to twist together and solder into the thirs position.

Re: Original Audio Amp modification to use with Nucore

STOP!!! STOP RIGHT NOW!!!! Before you plug ANYTHING in, is the other side of "audio cable " with only 2 wires pluging into the wall or is it a 1/8" stereo jack that plugs into your computer? I say this because it looks like a lamp cord and if that is the case you're going to blow up t...

Re: Original Audio Amp modification to use with Nucore

COMPUTER power supply. They all have spare 5v/12v connectors. There is only 1 power connector on the audio amp which is a standard computer power connector. Big Guys pinball sells their own redesigned audio amp which mounts separately to the wall of the cabinet but my method is if you want to use th...

Re: Original Audio Amp modification to use with Nucore

I don't follow you. ANY! Computer power supply will do. However, with the way chuck mounted his usb board, on the inside of the computer case, you could do something similar with the audio amp and have no need to buy an extra power supply. As far as the connection points for the head phone/ 1/8"...

Re: Complete LCD Replacement Kit..

MUCH better! Question though. Are all LCDs going to show the blueish background instead of the black/blank screen or is the brightness adjustable in order to get rid of the overly bright background?
