Re: POLL: Pay for a video converter or replace monitor?

Speaking of black level and image edges... is there a bezel in a pin2k cab? I get a little bit of a halo around mine because light leaks through around the edge of the CRT. Not much but I can't imagine that was part of the original design. Actually thats a common problem. It's pretty easy to fix. Yo...

Re: Picked up a NOS SWE1 kit

I can't say MAME appeals to me nor would be all that practical... but being able to stream music videos rather than just mp3s does. Visual Pinball does have some potential. If someone were to replace the backglass with an LCD, as mentioned above, the multipurpose potential of the platform jumps quit...

Re: Picked up a NOS SWE1 kit

Just had a thought that adding a second monitor for the translite would be a cool idea also. Maybe to display CD covers, photos or personalized banners - hell why not for browsing the web? It would take some real forethought to be able to browse the web with four buttons and no mouse. Possible but ...

Re: POLL: Pay for a video converter or replace monitor?

Where are you getting the $250 price from on the LCD? If you wait for a decent sale 19" LCDs can be had at half that. I actually paid less than that for my 22" dell. I do suggest a 22" widescreen btw. A 19" lcd is really only ~18" due to the bezel. So you really have to get...

Re: Some missing parts on early test game

They definitely aren't important gameplay indicators. I'd say if it costs a bunch don't bother with it.

Re: removing the head

Update: it's on. To get it into the house from the shed I had to pull the playfield, pull the head, pull the computer from the head, bring all of the pieces down the stairs separately, and reassemble it all. Putting the head back on after putting the cabinet on its legs was not easy but I managed it...

Re: removing the head

I'm good with monitors - I've fixed them from b/w to vector to raster - so I'm good there. I just wanted to see if there was any weird surprise like a hidden harness you might miss or the notorious Sys7 keyed-alike connectors that if reattached reversed will fry your whole PCB set. Yes, I did that t...

removing the head

Tomorrow I have to remove the head of my RFM so I can move it into my basement. I've heard that this is a bit of a pain. Anything I should watch out for? I don't really want to do it but the bulkhead opening leaves me no choice.

Everything okay over there now? Obviously odds are low but let us know if there's anything we can do.

I finally got one!

Finally scored myself an RFM. Took some doing and waiting to get one I could afford but I have it now. Monitor is out but I can fix that... and we couldn't get it down the bulkhead stairs safely so it's in the shed. :) I'll have to pull the head off to get it through the opening. Another minor detai...

Ha! I totally know what you mean. I've written apps and then been like "oh, wow, sweet" when bug reports come in and had my manager look at me like "why didn't you anticipate that if it makes you happy". It's a very zen developer place to be. :D
