My original foxconn mb died after only 3 months so I replaced it with an asus m2n68-am plus. everything works ok except the game sound (very soft) I tried maxing out the settings in alsamixer with no effect. I went to the realtek site and downloaded the latest driver set for linux but I need some help in the how to for installing them. I know very little about linux. any help would be appreciated.

Did you just install the new motherboard with the old linux install?

Yes I did. Do I need to do a total wipe on the Hard drive and start over?

Yeah Tim. If you're not a linux expert it's easiest to re-install. Just backup your music directory (if you have one) to a usb drive and it shouldn't take you long.

Ok, I did the total wipe and reinstall. Now the game won't boot at all. Once it gets past the Nucore 1.0 splash screen it says:
Starting emulation
****reset*****
Nucore Shutdown
Watchdog sleeping during shutdown
audio shutdown
launcher(6) hardware error
running local boot scripts (etc/rc.local)

Then I get the nucore desktop login

Sounds like the USB board isn't connected.

USB board was connected ok, I rebooted and went into the system bios and changed the audio front panel settings to AC97 from HD and it worked. I'll wait and see if the problem comes back.
