Network Issues- MSI GF615M-P33

This mobo does have a Realtek ethernet adapter. The fix listed here
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=941
did not work. After extracting and running Ubuntu would no longer boot. I did the fix logged in as root, cable unplugged, followed all instructions. Any ideas?

I tried this again from a clean install. It is not crashing this time, but still doesn't work.

You may have a different realtek chip on that mb than the driver we provided here. Check the chip type and download that specific driver

I tried the long version of the fix and got it to work.
