USB to board connection

I have been putting off asking this. I have set up an external unit and successfully gotten to the final step. I am asked to select my game and I have no response when using the select buttons. Have I connected to the driver board wrong? I see the 5v light on the driver board when the game is not powered yet so I am pretty sure it is connected. I just wonder what I am missing.

Do you have a parallel cable hooked up from your computer to the driver board? If the answer is yes double check the connection. Also check your bios settings. Makes sure the parallel cable is enabled and preferably set to port 378. If all of that is correct you may have a bad parallel cable.

Okay,

I have connected to the parallel port (Oh, it's a dongle not an adapter). Still no power up to the playfield and no interface. The light saber flashes on briefly when I reset. Was the driver board damaged during all of my screwing around? If the cable is good, I will try to swap boards with someone or send it out for repair. The game itself is in very good condition and seemed like the perfect candidate for your system.

Thank you.

Strange,

on the third reboot I had limited success. All came to life and a game credit was entered and.... nothing.
Dang! What now. I cannot get the game to start. All switches and solenoids are good. Sooo close.

parallel port was backwards on the motherboard. I will try and reset the dongle. Still at it and checking back to see your response.

Take care,

That would cause problems. If you still can't get it working post the list of hardware you purchased.

I am running the software through an Asus PSG45T-M Mother Board running a 3G Intel dual core fed from a Western Dig 500G 7500 rpm hard drive. No luck on the game start. It looks beautiful in attract mode but I would really like to play a game.

Did the game work properly before you added the Nucore computer? If you see the attract mode and playfield lights are blinking it's working properly. I would check the start switch next. If you don't see playfield lights you still have a nucore problem. Also, is the game in freeplay mode? You set that from the williams menu when you open the coin door.

The game had a bad cpu board. It had been scratched by something like a screwdriver. I purchased the game for one thousand dollars from a vendor that did not want to deal with the problem. I decided to sell the Prism cards to help pay for your Nucore system. After a couple of years of assembly, I am to this point. The start switch works during test mode. Everything works during test mode. It is set on Free Play. The date and time are current. The sound works. All but four lights work. The LCD monitor is working great. Attract mode does everything it should. When you press the flipper controls, it changes screens and plays sound effects. When I press the START button... Nothing happens. !@#$$% :x

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO CHECK NEXT. :?:

Well, I can confirm that Nucore seems to be working properly and your parallel cable is also working properly. I'm going to guess you have some sort of a driver board issue. This is assuming the switch is wired to the proper connectors and nothing is hacked in the machine. The problem with picking stuff up from ops is you never know the condition of the machine until you get it working. I would suggest going through the manual and making sure all of the connectors are hooked up properly and the wires to the start switch are the right ones. It's a head scratcher but you're getting closer.

My own knowledge of board repair is limited. I don't think I am up to tackling this. The person who does my tough board work does not work on these boards either. Who do you recommend? Everything is connected properly (Checked, double checked, triple checked, quadruple checked). One more step and I will enter the "stick o dynamite" phase.
