Software startup time

Post by andrewhannay » Tue Sep 26, 2017 12:06 pm

I've watch videos of Pin2k starting up with Nucore and after the PC quickly boots up the splash screen shown during the Nucore software starting seems to take forever (around a minute) before the actual game starts up properly. Why does it take so long to get going? Can this be speeded up?

Someone may have installed a BIOS nucore screen. A normal Nucore startup spend an average of 30ish seconds booting linux and 8-10 seconds booting Nucore. If someone wanted to strip down a linux distro the linux boot time can be reduced.

Ok, I'll try and rephase this.
After Linux boots up and starts Nucore it takes 60 seconds to actually start the game.
Maybe it's the Pinbox version I was watching on YouTube or maybe the PC being used was not a high enough spec.
So, question, does the PC spec effect the nucore startup time (not including the Linux boot up)?

It does. Also, pinbox was a hacked version of Nucore so no guarantees something wasn't screwed up.
