Do I just put the zip file onto a USB stick? Or do I extract the contents onto a USB stick?

extract the file to the usb stick. Then run the update routine.

That's what I did. I've since deleted the log file. Is there a way to know what version I'm running? I see a full screen graphic that said v1.01 Star Wars but not sure if that's the nucore version. I'm guessing I should see a v1.1 nucore somewhere.

It's on the nucore config screen. I think 1.01 is actually 1.1

Ah ok. I knew the download file was nucore1.1 but then saw 1.01 and thought it didn't work.
