Update 08.27.10

Post by Chuck »

I know, it's been a while since I've given you an update. The last couple of months have been a little crazy.

The Good News:

The new Complete cases look awesome and are in production now. We expect them within the next weeks or so.

We added new functionality to allow use of LEDs in the machine without reporting an error on startup. It's a fairly simple file you edit that looks just like the lamp matrix and allows you to specify which sockets have LEDs.

The tournament code is done and we have been testing it. We've run into a couple of bugs which should be pretty simple to fix. We had targeted a release to the testers this weekend and still *might* make it. The tournament code will support all Pinball 2000 servers including http://mypinballs.com/

The Great News:

We will be doing something special at Expo this year http://pinballexpo.net/seminar.php (still 2009 data - hopefully they'll update it soon.) We're hosting a Pinball 2000 Tournament using Nucore.

1) You will need to attend our seminar (TBA) Nucore, Let The Tournament Begin!
2) During our Seminar you will sign-up to be a tournament participant. Sorry, only time to sign-up will be at the seminar. No late entries allowed.
3) We'll have our demo machine running RFM 1.8 on the Expo floor. You will stop by our machine, check-in with us, and play one game as a tournament entry.
4) The person with the highest score in the tournament will win a Nucore Base package ($400 value) and the runner-up will win a Nucore Audio Amplifier ($120 value.)

Details may change but this is the general plan. The tourney software is very cool and we want to give people the ability to check it out.

When we release Nucore 2.0 software we will also release our open-source tournament server code (source and executable.) This will allow people to create new servers and/or extend the capabilities of the tournament software. Our tournament server will also allow power users to do things like hosting a tournament on their Nucore box ;-) More on this at our seminar.

Update:

People have requested that we host two divisions for the tournament. The "A" division will be players who rank in the top 300 on http://www.pinballrankings.com/. The "B" division will be for everyone else. Since we will have two divisions we will also give out two Nucore Base systems instead of one! More details soon.
