More Bugs!!!

All jukebox related. A couple were from the original code and a couple were from the new code. Good news is as I'm typing this Don is finishing the last fix to the nasty one. We'll be sending the Alpha testers a patch probably yet today. For fun I posted my playlist in the alpha testing forums so the other guys followed suit. I dare to say we ALL have really diverse (see weird) taste in music. I almost kicked an alpha tester for putting cher in his playlist but then I noticed a lot of Zeppelin and Chicago so I forgave him. All-in-all I'm very happy with the alpha testing.

Chuck & team,

Please don't take this the wrong way, but...

Would sticking to the core purpose of the product speed it's availability? Jukeboxes and Easter eggs are nice, but what about a release date?!

Thanks,
-JB

First, my internet access has been down since Sunday :p

Second, you bring up a very valid point. I don't think I've done a good enough job explaining what we're doing right now.

The software is functionally complete. Once we finished it we wanted to do extensive testing. We handed the code to our Alpha testers and have let them try to break it. Until recently they haven't found any significant issues/bugs. During this time I haven't had much to do programming wise. So I took this time and spent a couple of days writing a very simple game and decided to use it as an Easter Egg. When a bug is found I immediately drop what I'm doing and fix the bug so the game programming hasn't interfered with testing in any way. Now, we consider the jukebox core functionality since we've promised it all along. A majority of the bugs/issues have been in the jukebox. Although in the grand scheme of things the bugs haven't been too bad. We will continue Alpha testing until the Alpha testers stop finding bugs/issues. Once we reach that point we will open Beta testing and expand the number of testers. It is our desire to release a product with no bugs or major issues. Today too many software packages are released before they are really done and it generally pisses off customers. Since we don't have anyone to answer to but ourselves no one can push us to release the software before it's ready. This in turn will make everyone happier.

So, to answer your question the Easter Egg is not delaying release at all. The jukebox functionality is delaying release somewhat but really no more than a week or two. Even if we decided to send the software as-is without an Easter Egg or jukebox functionality we couldn't release it today due to on-going release negotiations. So I ask that you please be patient and understand we want to put this in your hands as much as you want to buy it. But it's our desire that the software is rock-solid and you as a customer will be much happier with it that way.

Happy Nucore Year!!

*Cheesy for sure but one of our Alpha testers said it to me and it made me grin =)
